Recall that the federal government of Nigeria has officially approved the reopening of schools across the country, urging all schools management to fix a date and reopen once all the necessary Covid-19 protocols given by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and the Presidential Task Force are put in place.
Following this announcement, some schools have reopened already and started activities while some are being delayed by the ongoing ASUU strike.
Recall that the federal government has refused to pay some ASUU members because they failed to enroll into the federal government’s IPPIS as their payment system which is the cause of the ongoing strike.
However, the Academic Staff Union Of University (ASUU) demanded for a new payment system which is the University Transparency Account System (UTAS).

On Tuesday, 13th of October, the federal government it might consider the adoption of University Transparency Account System (UTAS) earlier presented by the Academic Staff Union Of University (ASUU) as alternative for (IPPS).
The Minister of Labour, Chris Ngige made this announcement while speaking to newsmen men after a meeting with the leadership of the Senate and ASUU.
He futhered that they have agreed at the meeting to give required consideration to the UTAS alternative that ASUU came up with.
With this information, it means that the ASUU strike will soon end because one of the main thing they demanded for has been considered. There all students of the institutions that operates under ASUU should start preparing to resume back to school because the strike may be called off soon.
