Senator Sam Anyanwu, The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions in the 8th Senate stated on Tuesday July 28th that he has directed his lawyers to file law suits against Goodswill Akpabio, The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs for mentioning his name as part of those that got contracts from the Niger Delta Development Commission.
Senator Anyanwu stated clearly while addressing Journalists in Abuja that his lawyers will write to Akpabio on Wednesday July 29, 2020 instructing the Minister to either yank off his name from the list of those that got contracts from the NDDC or come up with facts that will prove beyond reasonable doubts that he (Sen Anyanwu) indeed got contracts from the NDDC, failure to do so will will lead to more legal steps against the Minister.
Senator Anyanwu said he was shocked when the Minister of Niger Delta mentioned his name as one of the lawmakers that got contracts from the NDDC, the senator claimed he has called Akpabio several times but he has refused to pick. The Senator also stated that “he is using this medium to call on NDDC to go to his constituency and complete the projects they have started.”
Senator Anyanwu is the first lawmaker out of those mentioned in the list sent to the Speaker, House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila to have taken legal steps to clear his name, it seems other lawmakers are yet to find their voice(s).
